The economist asserted  that growth in Nigeria and the states will not be inclusive if the dynasties of poverty  are not broken. Soludo emphasized the need for  states to maximize their comparative and competitive advantage.

According to him “Most of the APC States happen to be in the North, one fundamentals of our economy is partial and individual concentration of wealth and poverty, 11 of the states in the North are in deep poverty”.

Giving further insight on the situation in the North, the scholar also deduced that the region had  the states with the highest population growth, but  productivity level of agriculture in those states was  down by 20%”.

On the economic recession hitting Nigeria,  Soludo  said it was structurally, supply side and policy induced ”.

In terms of political leadership, the former IMF expert  challenged the  APC  to “move from a coalition to grab power, to a governing team”.

Addressing the economic realities before Nigeria,  he admitted that this will  be the first time the country will have to structurally transform, without external anchors in terms of conditionalities like IMF, World Bank .
