Review of 2021 Activities in the Nigerian Capital Market & 2022 Outlook
This first edition of the "Market Review" for 2022 features a "Review of 2021 Activities in the Nigerian Capital Market & 2022 Outlook" with Mr. Ebo Ayodeji, the Head, Retail Investments, Chapel Hill Denham.
He highlighted the key developments that shaped the Nigerian equities and fixed income market in 2021, driven by the Nigeria Exchange Limited (NGX) and the FMDQ Securities Limited, respectively. The analyst notes that 2022 is a pre-election year in Nigeria and will affect investors' activities as they watch the developments on the political landscape.
Speaking on the regulatory environment, Ebo Ayodeji pointed out that the new drive by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to generate revenue through fees/charges on fixed income transactions and that of portfolio managers could adversely impact the volume of activities from investors in the year.
