Market Review: The Capital Market and Long-Term Financing For Nigerian Infrastructure Projects
This edition of the #MarketReview features Mr. Olatunde Amolegbe, FCIS; President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers as he speaks on "Assessing FGN Partnership with Stockbrokers to Deepen the Capital Market".
According to the Stockbrokers President, Nigeria is facing a challenge of infrastructure shortage which can best be supported by long-term financing through the capital market.
He noted that even in the early 1970s and 1980s the Capital market provided long-term financing for infrastructure projects like the FGN loan stocks.
Speaking further he believed investors love and support capital raising that is targeted towards specific projects, they can assess or even verify the economic value.
A good example is the FGN #Sukuk which was heavily subscribed because the investors could see the various federal roads/highways that it was tied to in the country. - via WebTV Nigeria
