Market Review: H2, 2021: Investors Should Expect Better Yields In The Nigerian Fixed Income Market
This edition of the Market Review show features Mr. Oluseyi Akinbi, the Managing Director of Zedcap Partners as he speaks on "H2, 2021 Outlook for Nigeria's Bond & Fixed Income Market".
According to him, investors should expect a return to double-digit fixed income yields era, which means better returns compared to the previous year. Giving an overview of the preceding year, he said yields plunged to a decade low of 0% while bond yields traded at 7%.
In H1, 2021 the dynamics changed as bond yields moved up to 14%. Some of the key developments that led to changes in the H1, 2021 include; the 10 year US bond-yield reversal, large borrowing appetite of the Federal Government from the domestic market and the increase in commercial paper issuance by corporates because of low yields.
