State of The Nation: Nigerians Should Work Collectively to Engender Peace and Unity - Prof Konyinsola Ajayi, SAN
Nigerians have been enjoined to rise up above ethnic, religious and ideological divides to work collectively and engender peace and unity in the country.
Professor Konyinsola Ajayi, SAN the Managing Partner of Olaniwun Ajayi, LP and a Concerned Citizen made this point as a guest on the "Economy and Politics" show anchored by Ottoabasi Abasiekong. Speaking to the state of the nation in the wake of the #ENDSARS protests seeking a reform of the Nigerian Police force, which has been hijacked by hoodlums who have escalated tensions across key cities like Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Benin and even Uyo.
The Legal luminary believed President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR has a major role to play in providing exemplary leadership in the area of regard for the rule of law, guaranteeing the security of the nation and providing an environment that respects the fundamental human rights of the citizens.
He also called for a thorough investigation into the incidents of Tuesday, October 20th, 2020 which witnessed soldiers attacking unarmed youth protesters at the Lekki Toll Plaza, which left many injured and reports of deaths from the scene of the incident.
As a Clergyman he tasked faith-based leaders to play the role of agents of love and reconciliation in the country, and also serve as advocates of justice and equity.
