Public Office Holders in Nigeria must show commitment and match their words with actions when it comes to accountability and transparency in governance.
The Deputy Director, Socio-Economic Rights And Accountability Project, SERAP Mr Kolawole Oluwadare disclosed this as a guest on the "Economy and Politics" show which discussed "Accountability and Transparency in Governance in Nigeria".
According to him Political and Public Office holders have a responsibility to respond to requests and demands from Civil Society Groups, the Media and Citizens on issues of accountability and management of state resources, which is provided for in the Freedom Of Information Act in the country.
He singled out the Accountant General of the Federation as an example of Office holders who has responded appropriately to requests for information from SERAP (COVID-19 Funds), as mandated by the provisions of FOI Act.
