FG Should Increase Efforts in Incentivizing Nigeria's Non-Oil Sector for Growth & Stability - Biodun Adedipe
The Federal Government has been tasked on incentivizing the non-oil sector in the economy, which will aid productivity and reduce Nigeria's over-reliance on hydro-carbons as its major revenue earner.
Dr Biodun Adedipe an economist and Chief Consultant Biodun Adedipe Consult disclosed this as a guest on the "Economy and Politics" show anchored by Ottoabasi Abasiekong, which explored "Nigeria And The Prospects For Growth and Stability".
On Nigeria's pathway to recovery from the Q3, 2020 recession, he said the nation failed to address the five issues that led to the 2016 recession which include; Defects in the economic structure and over-reliance on hydrocarbons, Largely import-dependent, Mindset of a government led economy, Low productivity and Policy rigidity & consistency issues.
He also called for government concessions to companies that are tax compliant (improving the ease of tax payment & enhancing the window for true redress in taxation), development of economic clusters and a robust policy on tariffs in the country that is not counter-productive.
