The Nigerian Agric sector should be viewed from a business perspective which entails enabling trade policies and infrastructure, and not a dumping ground for different classes of people who are not inclined to the sector. Mr Bisi Iyaniwura a Lawyer/Agribusiness expert disclosed this as a guest on the 31st edition of the Economy&Politics show that discussed "Post #COVID19: Increased Investments In The Nigerian Agric Sector".
He said the Ministry of Industries, Trade and Investments should support the Post-Harvests activities in Agriculture with enabling trade policies and incentives to farmers, while that of Science and Technology should be involved in the innovation, research and productivity in the sector. For an Industry that contributes 22% of the nation's GDP, Mr Iyaniwura calls for the political will from the Federal and State Governments to develop infrastructure for warehousing and improve logistics and the supply chain for farm produce in the country.
