Mathematics over the years has been regarded as a difficult and technical subject with limited career opportunities. Many high school students have termed it the most difficult subject and yet it is one of the compulsory subjects.
Beyond the difficulty attached to Mathematics, there is a stereotypic agenda around women having a career in Mathematics. Despite the concerns, Professor Grace-Alele Williams a Mathematician and Nigeria's female Vice-Chancellor remains an example to all women and girls in the country.
In an era driven by digital technology, mathematics has a key role to play in the area of big data, analytics, artificial intelligence, and even the internet of things.
