Women Series: The Burden of Absentee Parenting on A Girl-Child
According to the National School of Journalism, research has associated healthy child outcomes with parenting styles. Children of uninvolved parents generally perform poorly with regards to social skills and academic performance, displaying some deficits in cognition, attachment and emotional skills due to the lack of emotional responsiveness from their parents.
Delinquency can also be seen in such children due to a lack of boundaries at home, making it difficult for them to learn appropriate behavior. Every child is a product of two figures; a male and female, who become the parents.
While it is expected of the parents to be solely responsible for the child, some parents have chosen the path of irresponsibility, which has led to moral decadence in today's society.
Interestingly, some children who have been victims of bad parenting have found a way to break free from the trauma, possible bad habits and moral decline and choose a better path for themselves. Yes, they have managed to break free, but this does not take away the scars and horrifying experiences that bad parenting has left them.
Veronica sits and tells her all-revealing story about how parental (Paternal) negligence has affected her life and played out in her growth, and the courage it took her to break free from it.
