Millennial Talk: Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Millennials in Arts: Spotlight on African Fashion
Africa has become an ecosystem for fashion designers bold enough to create fashion statements embellished in colors and prints, as bold as the continent's sunsets and as culturally rich as its people.
Globally, fashion is a multi-billion dollar industry and creates jobs for designers, models, beauticians and make-up artists, producers, textile designers, manufacturers, event organizers, and more.
It is also intrinsically linked to other creative industries, including the arts, film, and music. Since 2019, the textile, apparel, and footwear sector of Nigeria's GDP declined by -0.09% from 2019 to -7.59% in 2020 according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
However, in developing countries, the textile and clothing industry is the second-largest behind agriculture employing a large percentage of women in its workforce.
This edition of the Millennial Talk features Obiageri Odoemena, Creative Director, Zikorah Africa, as she highlights the remarkable potentials in the African fashion industry and infrastructures required to make it flourish and compete in the global market.
