Oba Elegushi performs ground-breaking for Lagos Imperial International Business City

Described as the pioneer eco-friendly city to be developed in Africa, the Imperial International Business City is set to redefine urbanization in Lagos, when completed by 2020 at the Lekki area of Lagos.


Developed with the concept of being a smart, green, safe and sustainable city, Imperial International Business City is poised to revolutionize the Real Estate sector, giving impetus to the profile of Lagos as an emerging  megacity to watch in the globe.


To mark the commencement of this ambitious project, the Elegushi of Ikateland Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi recently  performed the groundbreaking of the city.


Fielding questions from journalists  on the project,  Oba Saheed Elegushi  said “The city is a legacy project, meeting the demands of Lagos which according to UN is the most developed corridor in West Africa”.


The Monarch  commended the Lagos State government for the approval of the project and the support given to it so far.


Speaking on the financing of the project and investor sentiments the MD/CEO of Cordros Capital Mr Wale Agbeyangi asserted that “One of the reasons investors are supporting the IIBC, is the smart city initiatives and green place where nobody has to worry about power, water and other utilities”.


Agbeyangi also highlighted the fact that most of the funding of the IIBC is from  local investors, while the IIBC has key and credible foreign technical partners.


The MD/CEO of Channel Drill Resources Limited giving the analysis shared that the Dredging international company have started work, laying pipes across the Lekki axis to the Imperial International Business city and have started laying underwater pipes into the Lagoon, between 3.5km to 5km level.


He said “The Dredging Company, will be pumping 1ml cubic metres every month, which will be very fast and in  24 months  will be done with the reclamation”, to set the place for development and take off by target year 2022”.


On the sustainability level of the IIBC , Mr Akioye asserted that the Dredging will take 3.5metres to guarantee a flood-free city for the next 75 years, with a data centre which is first of its kind.


Akioye also stressed that there are provision for infrastructure like a solid waste treatment facility, power, water, green parks, leisure parks amongst others.


The Imperial International Business City will provide a live, work and play experience, that will also drive the cosmopolitan lifestyle in Lagos.
