Basheer Oshodi, PhD, Head, Non-Interest Banking, Investments & Products.


Basheer's role as the head of the Non-Interest banking team has helped to position Sterling Bank as a leader in the fast-developing alternative finance sector. He has over 20 years of work experience in banking, real estate and management consultancy.


Prior to joining Sterling Bank, Basheer was the Head, Islamic Banking Risk & Compliance at Stanbic IBTC Bank where he set up the non-interest banking window. He also initiated products compliant with non-interest finance principles for Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Ltd.


Basheer holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Estate Management and General Management respectively from the University of Lagos; PGD from the Institute of Islamic Banking & Insurance (IIBI), London; MRes) Business & Management from London Metropolitan University; MPhil Economics from the University of Buckingham, UK; and a Ph.D. in Management of Innovation & Technology from DaVinci Institute for Technology Management, South Africa. He has completed the Executive Programme at the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University, USA.


He is the author of the book titled - An Integral Approach to Development Economics: Islamic Finance in an African Context published by Gower, UK. He has also published 25 academic articles and chapters and over 50 non-academic articles.
