About this Report

Our 2019 Sustainability Report, Delivering Shared Value, highlights the impact we made on Social, Economic, Governance and Environmental issues during the year. The report, which is our 9th edition, explores our sustainability goals, strategies, challenges, progress and performance within our corporate citizenship space. Our previous reports are available on www.seplatpetroleum.com. Issues of accountability and transparency have remained critical and foundational to the way we do business. The sustainability reporting channel gives us a good platform to invite interested readers and other stakeholders to check out how we walk our talk through such annual disclosures. We have followed our established tradition of complete and transparent disclosure of the impact of our operations on multiple stakeholder groups in line with internationally acclaimed sustainability reporting guidelines. The report discloses our key strategic corporate priorities, the actions taken during the reporting cycle and the outcomes. Our approach to reporting is discussed on page 20 of the report. Material issues are those considered of much relevance to our business and stakeholders. Details of our content selection process, which clearly identifies material topics based on stakeholder feedback obtained through positive dialogue are contained in page 21. The report is aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Standards. It is also consistent with the established standards and reporting frameworks of International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA) and the American Petroleum Institute (API). In addition, the report is guided by the United Nations Global Compact and its principles, covering human rights, labour issues, environment, anticorruption and others which Seplat supports.

As a demonstration of our international posture, as our Company features local and offshore investors especially with our dual listings in the Nigerian and London Stock Exchanges, we have taken due consideration of other reporting frameworks such as the Nigerian Stock Exchange Sustainable Disclosure Guidelines (NSE-SDGs), United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs), London Stock Exchange Group Environmental, Social and Governance Reporting practices (LSEG-ESG), Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria Code of Corporate Governance Principle on Sustainability (FRCN-CCG), among others. The report contains our performance data table, which reflects our achievements against targets for the reporting year as well as the level of progress recorded in the last 5 years on key performance indicators. The report also includes, in the appendix section, the list of community development projects executed during the year and the GRI content index, which can be found in the web version. We have retained the section that highlights our sustainability performance during the year against the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
