Pursuant to the SEC rule on Public Limited Companies which out rightly states that all securities of unlisted public companies should be bought, sold, or transferred only through an approved OTC market, NASD took the initiative to create a database of unlisted PLCS that are SEC registered however not trading on any traditional exchange.
NASD anticipates this action would create more market activity and liquid in the capital market through the listing of these companies on a SEC approved exchanged.
A second list which is the WATCHLIST is a database PLCs not registered with SEC and not trading on any traditional exchange. The purpose behind this is to ensure these companies renew their SEC license.
It should be noted that both databases are not fixed, hence, they are subject to change at any time. We only intend to uphold the rules set by the SEC. We also intend to deepen the Nigerian capital market, enhance investor confidence level ensuring liquidity.
