Average Motorcycle Fare per Drop Increased by 4.52% YoY in October 2017

The transport fare watch report for October 2017 covers the following categories namely bus journey within the city per drop constant route ; bus journey intercity, state route, charge per person; air fare charge for specified routes single journey; journey by motorcycle (okada) per drop; and  water way passenger  transport.

 Average fare paid by commuters for bus journey within the city decreased by 1.41% month-on-month and increased by 27.08% year-on-year to N128.54 in October 2017 from N130.38 in September 2017.

 States with highest bus journey fare within city in October 2017 were Cross River (N246.43), Abuja FCT (N235.86) & Ekiti (N202.50) while States with lowest bus journey fare within city in October 2017 were Ogun (N64.55), Borno (N70.00) & Katsina (N68.50).

 Average fare paid by commuters for bus journey intercity decreased by 2.97% month-on-month and increased by 13.00% year-on-year to N1,474.90 in October 2017 from N1,520.12 in September 2017.

 States with highest bus journey fare intercity in October 2017 were Abuja (N4,650.00), Adamawa (N2,500.00) & Lagos (N2,304.87) while States with lowest bus journey fare within city  in October 2017 were Bayelsa  (N1,000.00), Kano (N881.82) & Katsina (N911.11).

Average fare paid by air passengers for specified routes single journey increased by 0.42% month-on-month and by 27.61% year-on-year to N32,520.66 in October 2017 from N32,384.40 in September 2017.

 States with highest air fare in October 2017 were Abuja FCT (N45,000.00), Jigawa (N40,550.00) & Edo (N39,500.00) while States with lowest air fare in October 2017 were Katsina  (N24,000.00), Kogi (N25,078.57) & Osun (N27,500.00).

Average fare paid by commuters for journey by motorcycle per drop decreased by 4.56% month-on-month and increased by 4.52% year-on-year to N95.50 in October 2017 from N100.06 in September 2017.

 States with highest journey fare by motorcycle per drop in October 2017 were Rivers (N170.25), Edo (N160.00) & Bayelsa (N160.40) while states with lowest journey fare by motorcycle per drop in October 2017 were Ekiti (N50.74), Katsina (N51.55) & Niger (N50.11).

 Average fare paid by passengers for water way passenger  transport decreased by 3.72% month-on-month and 5.40% year-on-year to N582.20 in October 2017 from N604.72 in September 2017.

 States with highest fare by water way passenger  transport in October 2017 were Bayelsa (N2,000.00), Rivers (N1,750.00) & Delta (N1,425.00) while states with lowest fare by water way passenger  transport in October 2017 were Kebbi (N245.00), Gombe (N175.55) & Borno (N150.00).
