Average Intercity Bus Fare Increased by 14.78% MoM in November 2017

The Transport fare watch report for November 2017 covers the following categories namely bus journey within the city per drop constant route ; bus journey intercity, state route, charge per person; air fare charge for specified routes single journey; journey by motorcycle (Okada) per drop; and  water way passenger  transport.

Average fare paid by commuters for bus journey within the city increased by 7.51% month-on-month and 18.89% year-on-year to N138.19 in November 2017 from N128.54 in October 2017.

States with highest bus journey fare within city in November 2017 were Abuja FCT (N362.50), Cross River (N214.29) and Adamawa (N206.66) while States with lowest bus journey fare within city in November 2017 were Katsina (N76.66), Borno (N75.73) and Ogun (N70.72).

Average fare paid by commuters for bus journey intercity increased by 14.78% month-on-month and 2.04% year-on-year to N1,505.00 in November 2017 from N1,474.90 in October 2017.

States with highest bus journey fare intercity in November 2017 were Abuja FCT (N4500.00), Adamawa (N2,947.75) and Benue (N2,410.00) while States with lowest bus journey fare within city  in November 2017 were Bayelsa  (N9,33.33), Katsina (N898.27) and Kano (N795.45).

Average fare paid by air passengers for specified routes single journey decreased by -0.09% month-on-month and 20.11% year-on-year to N32,492.56 in November 2017 from N32,520.66 in October 2017.

States with highest air fare in November 2017 were Abuja FCT (N49,000.00), Edo & Jigawa (N40,000.00) and Akwa Ibom & Delta (N37,000.00) while States with lowest air fare in November 2017 were Osun  (N26,749.88), Katsina (N26,000.00) and Kogi (N25,000.00).

Average fare paid by commuters for journey by motorcycle per drop increased by 1.33% month-on-month and increased by 2.90% year-on-year to N96.77 in November 2017 from N95.50 in October 2017.

States with highest journey fare by motorcycle per drop in November 2017 were Rivers (N188.46), Edo (N165.55) and Akwa Ibom (N160.95) while states with lowest journey fare by motorcycle per drop in November 2017 were Ekiti (N52.01), Katsina (N51.42) and Niger (N51.00).

Average fare paid by passengers for water way passenger  transport increased by 2.29% month-on-month and 4.57% year-on-year to N595.51 in November 2017 from N582.20 in October 2017.

States with highest fare by water way passenger  transport in November 2017 were Bayelsa (N2,150.00), Rivers (N1,750.00) and Delta (N1,650.00) while states with lowest fare by water way passenger  transport in November 2017 were Kebbi (N236.73), Gombe (N173.48) and Borno (N145.61).
