Average Fare Paid For Bus Journey Within City Increased By 1.47% MoM in January 2020 - NBS

The Transport fare Watch report for January 2020 covers the following categories namely bus journey within the city per drop constant route; bus journey intercity, state route, charge per person; air fare charge for specified routes single journey; journey by motorcycle (Okada) per drop; and water way passenger transport.

 

Average fare paid by commuters for bus journey within the city increased by 1.47% month-on-month and by 15.10% year-on-year to N201.51 in January 2020 from N198.59 in December 2019. States with highest bus journey fare within city were Zamfara (N338.00), Abuja FCT (N310.00) and Cross River (N308.00) while States with lowest bus journey fare within city were Bauchi (N105.00), Abia (N145.00) and Anambra (N148.00).

 

Average fare paid by commuters for bus journey intercity increased by 0.89% month-on-month and by 9.08% year-on-year to N1,681.38 in January 2020 from  N1,666.57 in December 2019. States with highest bus journey fare intercity were Abuja FCT (N4,230.00), Adamawa (N2,547.00) and Borno (N2,500.00) while States with lowest bus journey fare within city were Bauchi (N965.00), Enugu (N967.00) and Bayelsa (N1000.00).

 

Average fare paid by air passengers for specified routes single journey increased by 0.26% month-on-month and by 1.21% year-on-year to N30,831.76 in January 2020 from N30,753.16 in December 2019.  States with highest air fare were Rivers (N35,500.00), Jigawa (N35,380.00), Kwara (N35,300.00) while States with lowest air fare were Katsina (N24,660.00), Sokoto (N25,350.00), and Kano (N25,460.00).

 

Average fare paid by commuters for journey by motorcycle per drop increased by 1.76% month-on-month and by 16.77% year-on-year to N132.84 in January 2020 from N130.54 in December 2019. States with highest journey fare by motorcycle per drop were Rivers (N260.00), Kogi (N230.00) and Lagos (N200.00) while states with lowest journey fare by motorcycle per drop were Adamawa (N63.00), Katsina (N69.00) and Jigawa (N70.00).

 

Average fare paid by passengers for water way passenger transport decreased by -0.07% month-on-month and increased by 5.62% year-on-year to N567.32 in January 2020 from N567.73 in December 2019. States with highest fare by water way passenger transport were Delta (N1,890.00), Bayelsa (N1,850.00) and Rivers (N1,800.00) while states with lowest fare by water way passenger transport were Borno (N135.00), Gombe (N198.00) and Ebonyi (N200.00).
