The Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu both commended Price Water House Coopers, on the launch of its Innovation Experience Centre.
At an event in Lagos, both leaders agreed that the setting up of the hub by PwC Nigeria aligns with the technology strategy of the Federal and Lagos State governments respectively.
Vice President Osinbajo, who was represented by the Director General of the Federal Budget Office, Mr. Ben Akabueze said the PwC experience centre aligned with the smart technology initiative of the Federal Government.
The Vice President also noted that the establishment of the PwC hub would support the FG's plan to boost technology adoption in the country.
Osinbajo speaking further said that Nigeria's economic transformation would rest on technology and innovation.
The Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu described the PwC innovation hub as a strategic initiative that reflects the plans of his administration to transform the economic landscape through smart solutions.
Governor Sanwoolu, who alongside other dignitaries took a tour of the facilities said he was impressed with the development and assured PwC that the government would continue to support with the enabling environment for the centre to thrive.
The Chairman of the occasion and accomplished Nigerian banker Mr. Jim Ovia believed the PwC Experience Centre was a product of new thinking and believed the economy had a lot of growth prospects through the adoption of innovative technology.
Giving the opening remarks at the event the Regional Senior Partner, PwC West Africa Mr. Uyi Akpata described the hub as the first of its kind by a professional services firm in the sub-region.
Akpata told stakeholders that the centre combines research, creativity, existing knowledge and strategic insight with a new structured way of solving problems.
He also stated the innovation centre was part of the broader plan to transform how PwC engages with clients, people and community; by driving it's thinking around disruption and emerging technologies.
Partner and Experience Centre Leader for PwC Nigeria Mr. Femi Osinubi explained that the Innovation Hub would draw out value within the market, in areas that can combine Business, Technology and Experience uderpinned by deep customer insights.
PwC now adds to the growing number of innovation hubs that are located in Lagos, Africa’s emerging technology capital.
