The Nigerian Trading Online Report 2018 To Include Section on Regulatory Technology

Friday, June 8, 2018   02:29PM / Proshare Research

The Online Trading Ranking Reports was initially dedicated to providing an index for measuring the adoption of technology amongst capital market operators. In the last year, we recognised the convergence taking place and the rate of acceleration in adoption amongst the financial services sector.

This led to a change in focus and methodology deployed for the reports in 2017.

You may recall that in 2016 Edition of our Online Trading Ranking Report we focused on Capital Market Operators (CMOs) with portals linked to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Trading engine - X-Gen, while the 2017 Edition of the Report included CMOs as well as FX Trading platforms.

In 2018, we have gone a step further to include the adoption role of regulators in a bid to make the ranking reports more representative of the ecosystem; if only to serve as a broad measure of the rate of adoption in the markets.

We recognise that there are other aspects of the report that will benefit from a coverage of the markets; hence the focus this year on:

·         The Equity Trading Markets – listed and unlisted/OTC securities;

·         The Fixed income & Bond Markets;

·         The Forex Markets;

·         The Commodities Markets;

·         The Mutual funds Markets; and

·         The Regulators

The survey, currently available for participation HERE will be complemented by an aide memoire and information memorandum on what is happening within the regulatory space.

Regulatory technology, also known as a "RegTech" is a new field within the financial services industry that utilizes information technology to enhance regulatory processes. It puts a particular emphasis on regulatory monitoring, reporting and compliance and is thus benefiting the finance industry.

We intend to focus on that and also provide information around the current state of the market as well as plans for improvement.
