The prospects for a convenient, affordable and innovative digital bus service platform in Nigeria, received a boost with the launch of Makeigo.com in Lagos.
Makeigo.com designed to provide support to the transport services companies in the nation and also create value for commuters in the country, is geared towards operational efficiency in the road transport sector.
Stakeholders in the digital economy space converged today at the NECA House, Alausa Ikeja to witness to the roll out of the platform, which is poised to revolutionize bus travel service in the country.
In his opening remarks the MD/CEO of Makeigo.com Mr Olumide Solarin believed the platform was set to change the way people travel through the digital space.
Solarin said it was not competing with transport services, but rather supporting and complementing their work and service delivery.
He noted that so far 97% of those who have logged on to the platform, used their mobile phones which revealed a significant shift in business dynamics.
The Makeigo.com CEO informed stakeholders said some of the freebies attached to booking online through the platform, with a free wifi service courtesy Smile communications, a 100% insurance cover for all commuters.
According to Solarin With this cashless booking travel platform, intending travellers have numerous options of corporate bus transporters to choose from, they prepay for their preferred seats from the comfort of their homes or offices.
This In a bid to phase out the current stressful experience of going to parks ahead for bus transport booking & payment when travelling inter-state within Nigeria. The Makeigo.com platform has an App that can be downloaded from playstore or android devices.
The representative of the Federal Road Safety Corps Sector Commander for Lagos State Mr Tunji Oguntoye lauded the initiative, asserting that it will assist the FRSC in providing data for policy making.
Oguntoye also stressed that through Makeigo.com platform the FRSC safety standard will be strengthened, while the issue of the Road transport passenger manifest will be reinforced.
Other special guests at the event who graced the occasion and commended the Makeigo.com platform for its innovative drive, convergence of technology, providing transport sector players.
Notable personalities at the Makeigo.com launch include; Mr Olufemi Awoyemi (CEO, Proshare), Mr Abu Phillips (Chartered Institute of Logistics), Mr Dimeji Matesun (MD, Matrix) Mr Alphonsus Iyobhebe(Head Sales, Chisco Transport ), Thaibat Adeniran (Group Head, Halal Takaful).
Highlights of the event was the unveiling of the platform, and demonstration on how the platform works to the stakeholders.
Makeigo.com already has transport companies like Chisco, E.Ekesons and A2B on its platform, while Paystack fintech company is its partner driving the payments process.
