The Transport fare watch report for February 2019 covers the following categories namely bus journey within the city per drop constant route ; bus journey intercity, state route, charge per person; air fare charge for specified routes single journey; journey by motorcycle (Okada) per drop; and water way passenger transport.
Average fare paid by commuters for bus journey within the city increased by 1.43% month-on-month and by 3.33% year-on-year to N177.57 in February 2019 from N175.07 in January 2019. States with highest bus journey fare within city were Abuja FCT (N295.00), Cross River (N283.33) and Zamfara (N285.00) while States with lowest bus journey fare within city were Rivers (N131.67), Abia (N129.90) and Bauchi (N94.04).
Average fare paid by commuters for bus journey intercity increased by 0.43% month-on-month and by decreased -12.45% year-on-year to N1,548.01 in February 2019 from N1,541.38 in January 2019. States with highest bus journey fare intercity were Abuja FCT (N4,000.00), Adamawa (N2,385.71) and Borno (N2,300.00) while States with lowest bus journey fare within city were Nasarawa (N154.55), Bayelsa (N920.00) and Enugu (N935.29).
Average fare paid by air passengers for specified routes single journey increased by 0.72% month-on-month and decreased by -5.79% year-on-year to N30,681.93 in February 2019 from N30,463.86 in January 2019. States with highest air fare were Kwara (N35,000.00), Abuja FCT (N36,000.00) and Jigawa (N35,000.00) while States with lowest air fare were Oyo (N25,000.00), Katsina (N25,000.00), and Taraba (N25,500.00).
Average fare paid by commuters for journey by motorcycle per drop increased by 1.40% month-on-month and 4.94% year-on-year to N115.36 in February 2019 from N113.76 in January 2019. States with highest journey fare by motorcycle per drop were Kogi (N193.63), Ondo (N189.05) and Lagos (N188.89) while states with lowest journey fare by motorcycle per drop were Adamawa (N50.00) Kebbi (N60.67) and Jigawa (N57.78).
Average fare paid by passengers for water way
passenger transport increased by 2.16% month-on-month and decreased
by -7.89% year-on-year to N548.76 in February 2019 from N537.14 in
January 2019. States with highest fare by water way passenger transport were
Bayelsa (N1,925.50), Rivers (N1,813.33) and Delta (N1,466.66) while states with
lowest fare by water way passenger transport were Borno (N120.00), Niger
(N200.00) and Gombe (N170.00).
