Paul Graham, the Co-founder of Y Combinator asserts that "there cannot be solid technology ecosystem without research-driven universities" (emphasis mine).
MTN NG raised the bar in driving for high quality research in Nigerian universities with its PhD-oriented Academic Research and Development Innovation (ARDIC).
Six (6) winners emerged and they will be supported to translate their academic research into business ideas and social propositions working with the global incubation form, Seedstar/Seedspace.
All the beneficiaries will enjoy access to MTN's vast platforms, data, APIs and awesome intellectual capacity through hands-on mentorship by MTN staff in various expert domains.
With this, MTN leads in the delivery of the bold new digital world by catalysing local content development and enabling a new wave of research-based entrepreneurship, as we remain committed to driving digital prosperity of our nation via job creation, exportable innovations, leapfrog solutions, disruptive access to financial services and social inclusion initiatives.
The event was graced with the presence of the leadership of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) , House Committee on Telecommunication, Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) and Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)
