Early on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, our commercial banking subsidiarity, First City Monument Bank Limited (“the Bank”) confirmed that there were attempted fraudulent card transactions on a few customers’ accounts. The bank’s system immediately placed a lien on the affected accounts to minimize potential losses.
Investigations indicate that a few of the fraudulent transactions were completed but the total amount involved is not material. The Bank has assured its customers that they will not suffer financial loss and has started making refunds on the affected accounts.
We assure all stakeholders that the Bank has put in place appropriate measures to prevent a recurrence and this incident will not have significant impact on the bank’s or group’s financial performance.
