In our earlier report titled “Corporate Actions in 2016: NESTLE, TOTAL Top on Dividend Payment”, we take a look at quoted firms that have proposed dividend payment.

Based on highest dividend per share, NESTLE and TOTAL top as highest dividend paying stock with N19.00 and N12.00 dividends proposed respectively out of forty-nine (49) quoted firms thathave declared both dividends and bonuses on the Nigerian bourse.

At the end of 2015 financial calendar, NESTLE Nigeria Plc declared the highest dividend of N19 as TOTAL Oil Nigeria Plc declares N12. Dangote Cement Plc – DANGCEM came third with N8 dividend declared while JBERGER declared N1.50 to make the top ten lists.

Three firms from the Oil & Gas sector – TOTAL, MOBIL & FO make the list while two from the banking sector – ZENITHBANK and GUARANTY make the list. Others are from the Consumer and Industrial Goods Sectors.

As at 10th May, 2016, only two out of the top ten dividend paying stocks have recorded positive ytd performance while the other eight recorded negative returns.

TOTAL and JBERGER record 3.39% and 2.38% ytd gain each while FO Records -36.36% ytd loss to top the losers.
