Stanbic, Meristem and CSL Top Broker’s Performance Report by Value in 2017

Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited led the top 10 stockbrokers on the Nigerian bourse for the year ended December 29, 2017.  While the top 10 broking firms accounted for 75.23 per cent of the total value of transactions between January 02, 2017 and December 29, 2017, Stanbic IBTC dominated with 15.85 per cent or N403.491 billion.

Meristem Stockbrokers Limited, a subsidiary of Meristem Securities Limited ranked second by value out of the Top 10 Stockbrokers with total trades valued at about N338.61billion, accounting for 13.3 per cent of the market share in 2017.

CSL Stockbrokers Limited followed with N312.789 billion or 12.29 per cent, while Rencap Securities (Nig) Limited occupied the fourth place with N234.642 billion which is 9.22 per cent and Cordros Securities Limited accounted for 8.58 per cent or N218.409 billion.

FBNQuest Securities Limited recorded N89.159 billion or 3.50 per cent, while ARM Securities Limited accounted for N84.67 billion or 3.33 per cent. EFCP Limited recorded N84.39 billion or 3.32 per cent. United Capital Securities Limited accounted N81.96 billion or 3.22 per cent just as Chapel Hill Denham Management Limited accounted N66.88 billion or 2.63 per cent.

In volume terms, United Capital Securities Limited led with 30.392 billion shares which is 15.12 per cent of the total transactions in 2017. Stanbic IBTC followed with 15.375 billion or 7.65 per cent, while CSL Stockbrokers had 12.87 billion shares or 6.4 per cent.

Rencap Securities Nigeria Limited recorded 9.695 billion shares or 4.82 per cent. Cordros Securities Limited, Capital Assets Limited and Meristem Stockbrokers Limited had 7.320 billion shares or 3.64 per cent, 7.246 billion shares or 3.60 per cent and 6.978 billion or 3.47 per cent respectively.

ARM Securities Limited traded 5.805 billion shares or 2.89 per cent while Cardinalstone Securities Limited accounted for 5.695 billion shares or 2.83 per cent and FBNQuest Securities Limited accounted for 5.662 billion shares or 2.82 per cent in that order, to round up the top 10 brokers list by volume.
