Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited led the top 10 stockbroking on the Nigerian bourse for the first quarter ended March 31, 2014. While the top 10 broking firms accounted for 61.2 per cent of the value of transactions in Q1, Stanbic IBTC dominated with 16 per cent or N87.371 billion.
Rencap Securities Nigeria Limited followed with N77.789 billion or 14 per cent. CSL Stockbrokers Limited occupied the third place with N43.121 billion which is 7.9 per cent. Cordros Capital Limited accounted for 5.7 per cent or N30.959 billion.
FBN Securities Limited recorded N23.774 billion or 4.38 per cent, while Vetiva Capital Management Limited accounted for N16.111 billion or 2.9 per cent. Primera Africa Securities Limited recorded N15.373 billion or 2.8 per cent. Chapel Hill Denham Management Limited accounted N13.964 billion or 2.5 per cent, just as BGL Securities Limited traded securities worth N12.84 billion or 2.3 per cent.
African Alliance Stockbrokers Limited completed the top 10 brokers list with for 2.1 per cent or N11.274 billion.
In volume terms, FBN Securities Limited led with 10.623 billion shares which is 23 per cent of the total transactions in Q1. Stanbic IBTC followed with 5.584 billion or 12.2 per cent, while CSL Stockbrokers had 3.855 billion shares or 8.4 per cent.
Rencap Securities Nigeria Limited recorded 3.665 billion shares or 8.0 per cent. BGL Securities and Cardinalstone Securities Limited had 2.447 billion shares or 5.34 per cent and 1.466 billion or 3.2 per cent respectively.
Cordros Capital Limited traded 1.19 billion shares or 2.6 per cent while Independent Securities Limited accounted for 1.08 billion shares or 2.36 per cent. APT Securities and Funds Limited and Partnership Securities Limited recorded 1.06 billion shares or 2.32 per cent and 981 million shares or 2.14 per cent in that order, to round up the top 10 brokers list.
