LIVESTOCK, SCOA Record PE Ratio above 800; WEMABANK Records Highest Among Banks

In our last report titled “MARKET ALERT: Seplat, UNILEVER and CADBURY Record above 1,000 PE Ratios” published early in the year. We highlighted companies’ PE ratio and analysis reveal a few companies with PE rations above 1,000 figures.

Also, based on best practice, it was stated that average market P/E ratio is expected to be about 20-25 times earnings while companies that are losing money or declaring losses do not have a P/E ratio.

Latest analyses on quoted companies reveal that fifty-one (51) companies have PE ratio above the benchmark of 20-25. LIVESTOCK and SCOA top with 911.04 and 857.77 respectively.

Ten (10) companies recorded PE ratios that are within the 20-25 benchmark and the affected stocks are DANGSUGAR, INTBREW, MRS, ROYALEX, ENAMELWA, UNIONDAC, GUARANTY, HMARKINS, TOTAL and FCMB

Sixty-seven other stocks recorded PE ratios below the benchmark.

However, WEMABANK records the highest PE ratio of 68.25 among the banking stocks. GUARANTY follows closely with 22.06 PE ratio while SKYEBANK records the leats with 1.34 PE ratio figure.
