Insurance Sector Recapitalisation – LAWUNION, STDINSURE Share Prices Drop by 26.03% and 23.68%

Following the recent announcement on August 31, 2018 that the deadline of the recapitalisation of the insurance sector has been backdated to October 1, 2018 as against January 1, 2018, a review of the performance of the insurance stocks listed on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange was done. 

This cursory review reflected that nine (9) insurance stocks recorded price appreciation within the one week period while twelve (12) recorded price depreciation. The share prices of five (5) insurance stocks remained flat within the period under review. These are MANSARD, INTENEGINS, REGALINS, UNIC and AFRINSURE. 

GOLDINSURE and STACO top the list of stocks with price appreciation with +120.83% and +108.70% gains respectively while LAWUNION and STDINSURE recorded price depreciation with -26.03% and -23.68% loss in that order.
