Nigerian stock market closed year 2017 with a better performance as it also recorded positive market breadth.
Analysis on the market breath at the end of year 2017 showed that it closed the year with sixty-five (65) gainers, forty-three (43) losers and sixty-five (65) unchanged compared to thirty-two (32) gainers, seventy-nine (79) losers and sixty-three (63) unchanged in 2016.
Forty-eight (48) stocks are trading at their nominal value. Financial Services sector dominated the list with 24 stocks. Services sector followed closely with 7 stocks while Oil & Gas sector has 4 stocks.
Others are Agriculture (1), conglomerates (1), Consumer Goods (2), Healthcare (3), ICT (3), Industrial Goods (1) and Natural Resources (2).
46 out of the 48 stocks
traded at the same price as at 30th December 2016 while the
remaining two traded above their nominal value within the period under review.
