Stock Market Retracts to Close Positive; Proshare Economy is Launched - Sep -16 SSS Report

Trading activities in the Nigerian Stock market closed the month of September 2016 positive as NSEASI recorded +2.67% gain as against -1.47% loss recorded in the month of August 2016 while market YTD performance remains in the red zone to stand at -1.07%.

On market development and regulations, the management of the Securities and Exchange Commission
published and proposed new rule and sundry amendments for exposure. A part of the rule is the Amendment to Rule on Trading in Unlisted Securities – Inclusion of Debt Securities.

Also, the commission banned two capital market operators found culpable of mismanaging its clients stocks for life after investigation. This is in line with the commission’s mandate and powers under Section 13 of the ISA, 2007

Proshare Nigeria Limited, Nigeria’s No1 Financial Information Hub,
has migrated its Economy and Politics website to Proshare Economy on its new hub. Proshare Economy is expected to focus on providing news, reports, reviews, data and analysis on economic and political activities in Nigeria which would facilitate fact based and data backed engagement.

The FMDQ OTC markets in its September spotlight highlighted that the third OTC FX Futures Contract Matures and Settles on FMDQ with a notional amount of  $180.00mm approximately on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. Other activities around the FMDQ OTC market are the Co-Sponsors and the participation in the 32nd Annual Conference of the AUHF and the Standard Bank Group Visits to FMDQ.
