CAC 4-Point Reform Agenda

May 19th, 2010
The New Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission Alhaji Bello Mahmud has embarked on a 4 - point agenda to further reposition the Commission.
The 4 - point reform agenda includes
1. Enhanced ICT infrastructure
2. Decentralization of operations
 3. Sensitization of the public
 4. Development of Human Resource
He said this while interacting with Commerce and Industry Correspondents in Abuja. Alhaji Bello Mahmud pointed out that his immediate focus is to enhance the Commission's ICT infrastructure to ensure efficiency of the system and also ensure high level of data integrity.   He pointed out that a robust ICT infrastructure will improve network availability and establishment of an effective E-payment system.
The Registrar-General said that the bench mark in the operations of any Organisation is to attain success and, as service organization to provide efficient services to its customers and the general public.
He said that the Commission will take practical steps to decentralize its operations in order to make the zonal offices more functional and at par with the head office.   The move, Alhaji Bello said will empower the zonal offices sited at strategic geographical locations in the Country to print registration certificates.
According to him, the scheme will not only make the Commission's services more efficient but also reduce cost of registration as the decentralization will curtail transportation.
He said that, the Commission will embark on an effective sensitization programme to create enhanced public awareness on the responsibilities of both Directors and Shareholders of companies. This he said will also enhance the compliance drive as well as boost the revenue base of the commission.
The Registrar-General said that no reform programme can succeed without effective public enlightenment. This he said underscores the importance of the press as mirror and watchdog of society.
Development of the Commission's human resources through capacity building and staff re-orientation, Alhaji Bello said, will be given priority attention.
Alhaji Bello Mahmud assured the journalists of the Commission's readiness to partner with them and provide them with information about developments and activities of the Commission to ensure proper information dissemination.
While thanking the correspondents and the media, the Registrar-General solicited their support and added "We appeal to you to always cross check information with the Commission before going to press" adding that the Commission will be ready at all times to respond to press enquiries.
