Meristem launches MeriGame, to attract young Nigerians & retail investors into the capital market.

Meristem Securities one of Nigeria's leading Capital Market operators, today took a major step in deepening investment activities in the country;  with the formal launch of "MeriGame".

MeriGame an Investment game designed to educate Nigerians on the art of investing and engaging in stock trading, creates a new chapter of attracting younger investors across the nation.

At the Nigeria stock exchange students and stakeholders gathered to witness the showcasing of the  "MeriGame" portal. 

In her presentation the Head, Wealth Management Meristem Securities Damilola Hassan asserted that the essence of the “MeriGame” launch was to bridge the knowledge gap in investment in shares. She identified three challenges in the investment space namely; limited knowledge of the financial instruments available to them, lack of trust in financial institutions and lack of funds. 

Abayomi Ogunleye  a Senior Analyst with Meristem gave a brief demonstration on how  the “APP MERIGAME” could be used by the investment public. He said it was on live chat enabling the buying or selling of stocks. Abayomi noted that it traded on equities, while he listed the features of the game portal to include the Registration page, Dashboard, Trade and Market data.

Abiodun Oludipe an Analyst with Meristem Securities explained that users will use virtual funds on the “MeriGame” to simulate financial capacity in real life trading, as well as regular tips and recommendations to guide them in making choices on stock trading. 

Highlights of the launch was the presentation of awards to one of the winners in the first season of the “MeriGame” Adebowale Opeyemi . The award was presented to him by the  General Counsel of the Nigeria Stock Exchange, Tinu Awe who represented the CEO Mr Oscar Onyema. 

Adebowale Opeyemi who came second in the first season, had N100,000.00  credited into his account. 

Giving their testimonials on MeriGame, Funmi Balogun an economics student of Obafemi Awolowo University  and Onome Tite from Covenant University, both described the investment game portal as an effective platform, to engage students on stock trading at an early stage. They also shared that “MeriGame” had given them more insight on the stock market and the understanding of the value of time. 

Students and stakeholders in the capital market also had the opportunity to engage the management of Meristem Securities on the “MeriGame” launch.
