The Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, is today organising the formal commercial bids opening for 11 distribution companies (DISCOs), which are successor companies of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN.
A former Head of State, Abdusalam Abubakar; and billionaire businessmen, Oba Otudeko and Wale Tinubu, are some of the notable Nigerians who are participating in the bidding process.
The bidders, according to the Director General of the BPE, Bolanle Onagoruwa, include Aura Energy Limited for Jos Distribution Company, Sahelian Power SPV Limited for Kano DISCO; 4Power Consortium for Port Harcourt DISCO; Integrated Energy Distribution & Marketing Limited for Yola DISCO and Interstate Electric Limited/KANN Consortium Utility Company Limited for Abuja DISCO.
Others include Southern Electric Distribution Company/Vigeo Power Consortium for Benin DISCO; Eastern Electric Nigeria Limited/Interstate Electric Limited for Enugu DISCO; and Integrated Energy Distribution & Marketing Limited/KEPCO/NEDCO/Western Consortium for Ibadan DISCO.
Honeywell Energy Resources International Limited, owned by Mr. Otudeko, challenges Integrated Energy Distribution & Marketing Limited believed to be owned by Mr. Abubakar; Oando Consortium headed by Mr. Tinubu; and SEPCO-Pacific Energy and West Power & Gas Consortium; for EKO DISCO.
Members of the same consortium, joined by VIGEO Holdings, Gumco, African Corporation AFC and CESC Consortium bid for Ikeja DISCO.
PremiumTimes - The Integrated Energy Distribution & Marketing Limited, believed to be owned by former Head of State, Abdusalam Abubakar, has been declared the preferred bidder for four distribution companies (DISCOs).
The company won bids for the Yola Distribution Company, Ibadan Distribution Company, Eko Distribution Company, and Ikeja Distribution Company.
Integrated defeated Honeywell Energy Resources International Limited, owned by Oba Otudeko; and Oando Consortium, headed by, Wale Tinubu, to win the bid for Eko DISCO.
