Senate Passes A New Version of Electoral Act 2010 (Amendment) Bill

The Senate today passed a new version of the Electoral Act 2010 (Amendment) Bill 2018 at the plenary session at the Red chambers in Abuja.

Speaking on the passage of the Bill, the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki said “Let me congratulate everyone on the Committee on Electoral Matters for the hard work that they put in and we have been able to achieve this with time and reviews of this Bill”.

Speaking further the Chairman of the 8th National Assembly stated “I want to commend everybody’s effort in making this happen and this will go a long way to improve our electoral processes and further strengthen our governance”.

According to Saraki “I am sure that with this Bill, Mr. President will of course give his assent and we can finally have an electoral process that we will all be proud of.

He thanked all his colleagues for the efforts and also those in the Federal House of Representatives, for the speedy passage of the bill.

“It’s a great day for our democracy, as today, we passed a new and much-improved version of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Amendment Bill” Saraki said.

The Senate President believed the review and passage of the Electoral Act will improve Nigeria’s  electoral processes and further strengthen the governance process.
