Yesterday Friday January 25th, 2019 President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, CFR as the Acting Chief Justice of the Federation.
This was after the Presidency suspended the Chief Justice of the Federation Justice Walter Nkanu Onnoghen based on the Order of the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad until his appointment , was a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria since 2006.
Prior to that period he served as a Justice of the Court of Appeal from 1993 to 2006.
He was a Kadi (Judge) at the Sharia court of appeal in Bauchi State, from 1991 to 1993.
Justice Muhammad was also a Provost of the College of Islamic and Legal studies, Bauchi State from 1986 to 1989.
Born December 31st, 1953 Justice Muhammad is a Law graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and also bagged his M.SC and PhD in the same institution of higher learning.
