The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has affirmed Mr Babajide Sanwoolu as the winner of the Lagos Gubernatorial primaries and flagbearer of the party.

In what can be described as a u-turn from the initial decision to cancel the primaries yesterday, the Chairman of the APC NWC electoral committee for Lagos state, Dr Clement Ebri said after resolving some of the hiccups, the final collation was done from across the state.

According to Dr Clement Ebri Mr Babajide Sanwoolu polled 970,821 votes while Governor Akinwunmi Ambode clinched 72,901 votes

Reacting to the result Mr Sanwoolu thanked Governor Ambode for a highly competitive primary, while pledging to drive an inclusive government in Lagos State.

On his part Governor Akinwunmi Ambode conceded defeat to Mr Sanwoolu and promised to ensure a smooth transition process, in the event that the party emerges victorious in 2019.

Governor Ambode urged all his supporters to rally round Mr Sanwoolu and give him full support, while he saluted the National leader of the party Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

He reiterated his commitment to the progress of Lagos State in the remaining months of his tenure which he described as non-negotiable.
