48 hours after Nigeria’s 2019 Presidential elections was conducted nationwide, the Independent National Electoral Commission will today from 11am commence the announcement of results from the 36 States of the federation.
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Professor Mahmood Yakubu disclosed yesterday evening at the formal opening of the National Collation Centre in Abuja.
He said the Resident Election Commissioners and Chief Returning Officers from all the states will be on ground to give the results.
Professor Yakubu assured all stakeholders that the results from the states will be safe and secured.
The INEC boss acknowledged the spate of electoral violence in some parts of the country and particularly paid tribute to the INEC Ad-Hoc staff from the National Youth Service Corps Ms. Ibiliki Amachree who lost her life to a stray bullet in Rivers State.
He also advised the media and the social media practitioners to be circumspect in the posting of election results, that have not been verified and authenticated by INEC.
