Organizers of Nigeria's premier Awards institution - PEARL Awards Nigeria renown for rewarding operational excellence and outstanding performance in the nation's Capital Market has sworn in a new member to its Board on Monday November 18, 2019.

 

Rabiu Abdullahi Umar who is currently the Group Chief Commercial Officer at Dangote Industries is a Certified ISO Auditor, graduate of the prestigious Harvard Business School, and certified Financial Analyst recently joined the Awards Board of Governors.

 

The event which took place at Lead Capital Group Head office in Lagos, had in attendance Dr. Faruk Umar, Chairman, PEARL Awards Board of Governors; Tayo Orekoya, President/CEO, PEARL Awards Nigeria; Chief Mrs. Nike Akande, Past President, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Femi Awoyemi, Founder/CEO, Proshare Nigeria Limited; Prince Abimbola Olashore, President, Association of Investment Advisers & Portfolio Managers and Lekan Adekoya, Board Secretary PEARL Awards Nigeria.

 

After being presented to the Board with an intimidating profile citation during the ceremony, the Board Chairman, Dr. Faruk Umar who formally inducted Rabiu into the Board expressed delight that Rabiu Umar was joining the Board at a most auspicious time being the threshold of the Awards Project's landmark 25th year edition, introduction of reforms into its criteria and a time PEARL Awards is projecting making the Awards go continental.

 

Mr. Tayo Orekoya, President/CEO PEARL Awards welcomed Rabiu on board and extolled his virtues as a first class professional whom he believes will positively complement the current Board with enhanced dynamism. He restated that "the Awards Project is committed to, and will continue to reinvigorate its processes, systems and leadership at all levels thereby complementing the efforts of other stakeholders towards the restoration of investors' confidence and the deepening of the market that will ensure recovery, stability and sustainable growth of our capital market". 

 

Responding, the new Board member, Rabiu Umar expressed appreciation to the Board of PEARL Awards for the honour and consideration to be a member of the Board. He congratulated the PEARL Awards for sustaining the dream of the respected Awards over the past almost quarter of a Century. He praised the resilience of the founding fathers of the Awards, adding that he had followed the trajectory and success story of the PEARL Awards over the years.

 

He expressed confidence that this call to service will be fully justified and pledged to contribute his quota both personally and professionally towards taking the Awards to the next level, particularly as it strives to go continental in the next few years.

 

Other Board members present at the event expressed optimism at the joining of the Board by the dynamic professional with high credentials and extended their hands of fellowship to the new Board member towards attaining lofty heights by the Awards Project.
