First Minister of Communication Technology and CEO, TLCOM Capital, Omobola Johnson, alongside CEO Paystack, Ezra Olubi, were among the big winners at the maiden edition of the CIO Awards.

 

The awardees were recognized for effectively leveraging innovation and technology to deliver exceptional business value within the year, during the Chief Information Officer's Awards, 2020, held at the Oriental Hotel Lagos, on Thursday, 26th of November.

 

CEO, Edniesal Consulting Limited, Biola Laseinde, disclosed, that the CIO Awards was created to serve as a mark of individual and enterprise excellence in Nigeria. "We are excited to finally birth the CIO awards as the most credible platform for rewarding individual who have delivered business value to their organization and the industry at large, through the innovative use of technology.

Over 7 categories were recognized, these include, CIO of the year Banking, CIO of the Year FINTECH, Best Female Leader In Digital And Technology, CIO of the Year, Consumer Goods and Retail, CIO of the Year, Government and Public Sector, Lifetime Achievement Award, CIO of the Year Insurance, CIO of the Year, Other Financial Institutions, CIO of the Year Technology and Telecommunication, CIO of the Year and Best Technology Consultant of the Year.

 

One of the highpoints of the event was the unveiling of the CIO Club Africa, a league of extraordinary business leaders leveraging innovation and technology to drive business change and entrench dynamic business models.

 

Speaking about the rationale behind the CIO Club Africa, CEO Edniesal Consulting Limited, Biola Laseinde, said "Our intention is to have honourees from the CIO Awards 2020, form a cloud of inspiring examples of how IT leadership alongside business partnerships are reshaping the future, this we hope to achieve with the CIO Club Africa as a first of its kind and we hope to leverage the expertise and disruptive thinking of our diverse business leaders in the club".
