NESG Appoints Niyi Yusuf and Onyeche Tifase as New Vice Chairmen

July 7, 2018, Lagos: The board of directors of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has announced the appointment of Mr. Niyi Yusuf and Mrs. Onyeche Tifase, who are presently Non-Executive Directors of the company, as new Vice-Chairmen of the board. 

Their appointment followed the retirements of Mrs Sola David-Borha, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC and Mr Nico Vervelde, former Managing Director (MD) from the board of the NESG in April 2017 and June 2017 respectively. The new appointees are to serve in this new capacity, taking up responsibilities that come with the position; thereby representing and conversing on behalf of and in the interest of the NESG. 

A statement issued by the Group disclosed that the appointments of Mr. Niyi Yusuf and Mrs. Onyeche Tifase take effect from Tuesday, July 10, 2018. 

Mr. Niyi Yusuf is the Country Managing Director of Accenture Nigeria. Before this he was the Senior Executive responsible for the Systems Integration and Technology Group of Accenture Nigeria. He graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria with a Bachelors of Science Degree (CombinedHonours)  in Computer Science and Economics in 1990. He joined Accenture (the then Arthur Andersen) in 1995 after a 4-year stint with JKK – a Nigerian IT company. He has worked in Nigeria and offshore implementing IT enabled business solutions for clients in banking, insurance, manufacturing, telecoms, public sector and oil & gas industries. 

Mr. Yusuf has represented Accenture on the board of some companies including Interswitch, ATM Consortium and is currently a member of the Corona Schools Trust Council (a group of primary and secondary schools), a director of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, a volunteer consultant for FATE Foundation, mentor at Youth Business Initiative, United for Kids Foundation, Ray of Hope Foundation and Junior Achievement of Nigeria amongst other education, business and entrepreneurial oriented NGOs. 

Mrs. Onyeche Tifase is an experienced Engineering Professional with extensive xperience in the power, engineering and consulting industries. She graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Electrical & amp; Electronics Engineering from the University of Nottingham and completed her Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cambridge. 

She started her career with Siemens in 2001 as an Engineer in the Power Distribution Division of Siemens Plc UK and thereafter progressed up the ranks taking up other key roles in Siemens Germany and Siemens USA. Onyeche worked with Accenture Nigeria from 2006 in the area of management consulting and in 2009 joined Siemens Nigeria as Deputy General Manager Medium Voltage and Transformers Business Units. 

Onyeche’s career path and achievements over the years led her to become the first Nigerian Managing  Director, Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Nigeria effective November 1 2014.   Onyeche resides in Lagos, Nigeria and is happily married with three children. She is an avid supporter of local content development initiatives and participates actively in key programs focused on the mentoring and development of the Nigerian youth. 

Mr. Niyi Yusuf and Mrs. Onyeche Tifase will join Mr Asue Ighodalo, Founding Partner, Banwo as the Second Vice and third Vice Chairmen respectively, while Mr. Kyari Bukar remains the Chairman of the Board.
