First Bank of Nigeria Plc announces Changes in the Board

First Bank of Nigeria Plc has notified The Exchange of Changes on its Board as follows: Mallam Bello Maccido appointed as Chief Executive Officer, FBN Holdings Plc, Mr. Dauda Lawal, Executive Director, First Bank, Public Sector, North and Mr. Gbenga Shobo, Executive Director, First Bank, Retail Banking, South. The appointment has been approved by the Shareholders of the Company.

Mallam Maccido is 1984 law graduate of Ahmadu Bello University; Zaria was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985. He obtained an MBA from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, USA in 1989, specializing in Managerial Finance. He started as an officer with Ecobank Nigeria Plc in 1990. He moved to New Africa Merchant Bank Limited as a Manager in 1992. Mallam Maccido was at various times Manager, Senior Manager and Assistant General Manager & Group Head, Corporate Finance of FSB Plc between 1996 and 1999. In 2001 he became the Managing Director/CEO of Legacy Pension Managers Limited. Mallam Maccido moved to First Bank of Nigeria Plc on January 29, 2011 as Executive Director, a position he occupied until his new appointment.

Mallam Maccido was a Council Member of The Nigerian Stock Exchange between March 2009 and May 2012. Member, Finance Committee, National Council on Privatization and Member, Implementation Committee, Financial System Strategy (FSS) 2020 among others. He is a Chartered Stockbroker and married with children.

Mr. Dauda Lawal graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in 1987 with B.Sc in Political Science and obtained M.Sc, Political Science/International Relations from the same University in 1992.

He started his working career in 1989 as Political Education Officer with the Agency for Mass Mobilization for Social and Economic Reliance Nigeria. In 1989, he joined Westex Nigeria Limited as an Assistant General Manager. In 1994 he was appointed as an Assistant Consular Officer (Immigration), and later Chief Protocol Officer, Embassy of Nigeria, Washington, DC, USA. Mr. Lawal joined First Bank of Nigeria Plc in May 2003; as Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking, and was at various times Senior Manager, Abuja Area office, Business Development Manager, Abuja, Principal Manager, Group Head PSG II, Assistant General Manager (Business Development Manager), Maitama, Deputy General Manager (Business Development Manager),

Maitama/Group Head Public Sector, Abuja. Between October 2010 and September 2011 Mr. Lawal was elevated to the position of Executive Vice President, Public Sector, North of First Bank of Nigeria Plc. In September 2012 he became Executive Director, Public Sector North, of First Bank of Nigeria Plc.

Mr. Lawal has attended many courses local and international. He is a fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration as well as Fellow, Civilian Institute of Democratic Administration.

Mr. Gbenga Shobo graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife in 1985 with B.Sc Political Science and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He started as Head, Treasury Department, Victory Merchant Bank Ltd in 1990. He moved to MBC International Bank Ltd as Assistant General Manager, Corporate Banking Department in 1992. He joined FBN Merchant Bankers in 2004 as General Manager, Corporate/Commercial Banking & Branches.

Mr. Shobo moved to First Bank Plc in January 2006 and was at various times, Group Head, National Corporates, Business Development Manager, Lagos Mainland, Business Development Manager, Rivers & Bayelsa States. He became the Group Head, Products & Channels Division in April 2009 as General Manager and became Executive Vice President, Retail South in October 2010 a position he held until his present appointment. He is involved in developing and reviewing the strategic initiatives of the Business Unit.

He has attended many courses and seminars within and outside Nigeria. He is a member of both Ikoyi and Apapa Club. He is married with children.
