Nigeria’s largest conglomerate Dangote Group emerged the outstanding brand at the 2018 edition of the #IAMBRANDNIGERIA awards which hosted in Lagos, the nation’s economic capital.
At an event organized by Top 50 Brands Nigeria, Dangote Group scored 87.4 in the BSM ratings to clinch the 2018 awards.
In his opening address the visioner and CEO, Top 50 Brands Mr Taiwo Oluboyede said most first world nations and even the so called third world, are consciously responsible of laundering their image.
According to him the IAMBRANDNIGERIA initiative, is not only designed to add the necessary value to the Nigeria brand but will help many Nigerians to achieve their desired greatness and invariably contribute to the growth of the Socio-economics
He noted that the Top 50 BRANDS NIGERIA 2018 are the brands that have succeeded in delivering their promises to the consumers. They are fast growing in value and they are the drivers of the nation’s economy.
Oluboyede decried the fact that the Nigerian brand, has not fared so well in the global market because there hasn’t been a properly executed nation brand efforts with tangible equity to show.
“The fact is the value of the Nigerian brand directly affects all of us externally and the amount of premium that we can attach to our businesses regardless of our political affiliation”- Oluboyede said.
He charged Nigerians to take up the responsibility to do everything within their capability to promote, jealously guide and tenaciously work towards enhancing the value of the nation’s brand.
The focus of the IAMBRANDNIGERIA is enhancing the value of the Nigeria brand towards achieving top 20 nation brand globally.
Speaking further the Top 50 Brands CEO shared that what differentiates across the globe, is the undeniable fact that they are tenacious and enterprising.
Mr Oluboyede believed Nigeria must learn from other nations who despite their challenges, have a way of shaping their narratives in a positive manner.
MTN a leading telecommunications group in Africa emerged second in the top 50 brands for 2018, while Globacom Nigeria’s largest indigenous telecommunications company clinched the third position.
