The Board of Directors of Chemical and Allied Products Plc (‘CAP PLC”) hereby announces the following Board changes:
1. Mrs. Awuneba Ajumogobia
Mrs. Awuneba Sotonye Ajumogobia has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of CAP PLC with effect from 1st August 2019. Awuneba graduated from University of Ibadan with a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Economics and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. She has more than thirty years of broad professional experience spanning several disciplines including finance, accounting, external audit, taxation, marketing, and business performance optimization. Over the course of her career she worked at Deloitte and Accenture. Until her appointment to the board of CAP PLC, she served as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the board of UAC of Nigeria PLC. Mrs. Ajumogobia also serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the board of Airtel Africa Plc, is the Chairperson of the Governing Council of Grange School, Lagos, a member of the Board of the University of Ibadan Research Foundation, serves on the Finance Committee of Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) and is a member of the Executive Council of WIMBIZ (Women in Management, Business and Public Service). Awuneba remains committed to personal and professional development and is a regular participant at leading local and international institutions in her areas of interest.
2. Mr. David Wright
Mr. David Wright has been appointed as the Managing Director of CAP PLC with effect from 1st August 2019. David earned a degree in Colour Chemistry and Paint Technology from the University of West Yorkshire, United Kingdom and has worked in the paint industry for close to 35 years. He has undertaken significant professional and vocational education programs in Business, Finance, Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Management, and is highly proficient in application of LEAN management methods. David has extensive business and manufacturing experience with leading international paint companies, initially developing new technologies in the UK and Europe, followed by stints in Saudi Arabia and India, establishing new strategic businesses in the Marine, Protective Coil and Powder Coatings markets for International Paint and Akzo Nobel. He moved back to the United Kingdom as Chief Operating Officer for Blackfriar-Glixtone decorative paints and Oxonica Nanotechnology, before returning to Saudi Arabia with Jotun initially as Head of Operations and subsequently Managing Director for their Decorative, Marine, Protective and Powder Coatings business. David joined Hempel as Regional Director for the Middle East in 2015 and immediately prior to joining CAP PLC, was Managing Director and Country Head for Kansai UAE.
3. Mrs. Udo Okonjo
Mrs. Udo Okonjo has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of CAP PLC with effect from 1st August 2019. She is the Chief Executive Officer/Vice Chairman of Fine and Country West Africa Limited. She has extensive experience negotiating and advising on multi-million-dollar real estate transactions on behalf of clients, including multinationals, listed corporates, privately held companies and high net-worth clientele. Udo was admitted to the Nigerian and New York Bars respectively in 1991 and 1994. Having emerged as best graduating female student at the Nigerian Law School in 1991, Udo was awarded the prestigious British Chevening Scholarship for a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) programme at the University of London, Kings College School of Law specializing in Corporate and Commercial Law. Udo pursued a successful legal career for more than a decade including being a partner at a leading local law firm, Templars Barristers & Solicitors. She earned a certificate in Effective Real Estate Marketing from the National University of Singapore in conjunction with the Dubai Real Estate Institute and attended several real estate and executive courses at the Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University. She is an alumnus of the Said Business School, Oxford Real Estate - Programme, the Oxford University High Performance Leadership Programme and the Judge Business School, Cambridge University where she obtained an executive management certificate focused on Complex Negotiations, Ethics, Strategic Marketing and Branding. She was the Senior Special Adviser on Legal and Constitutional Matters to the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Udo has received several local and international awards and recognitions including Africa Real Estate Personality Award and being nominated for CNBC FORBES Business Woman of the year for West Africa.
1. Mrs. Omolara Elemide
Following the appointment of a substantive Managing Director of the Company, Mrs. Omolara Iswat Elemide’s role as Acting Managing Director of CAP PLC has ended and she has resigned from the board of CAP PLC with effect from 31% July 2019.
2. Mr. Solomon Aigbavboa
Following his voluntary retirement from the services of UAC of Nigeria Plc, the Board has accepted the resignation of Mr. Solomon Ohi Aigbavboa as a Non-Executive Director of CAP Plc with effect from 31% July 2019.
In accepting their resignations, the Board thanked Mrs. Elemide and Mr. Aigbavboa for their invaluable services to the Company and contributions to the Board over the years and wished them well in their future endeavours. Lara continues to serve on the board of directors of Grand Cereals Limited, Livestock Feeds Plc and UAC Foods Limited.
