The Director-General of the National Office of Trade Negotiations, NOTN Ambassador Chiedu Osakwe today passed on at age 64.
In a message from the National Office of Trade Negotiations, which came as a shock to the nation, Ambassador Osakwe was instrumental to Nigeria's signing of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement, AFCFTA this year.
Ambassador Osakwe engaged stakeholders across the nation on the opportunities in the AFCFTA and served in the Presidential council on its implementation.
A thorough-bred diplomat Osakwe served as a diplomat with the Foreign Affairs Ministry and was later assigned to the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations (UN), before joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), where he rose to the position of Director, Accessions Division.
He had a rich education background studied at University of Ibadan, Nigeria , Oxford University, United Kingdom and bagged his PH.D in New York University ( United States).
The Federal Government appointed him as the Director-General of the National Office of Trade Negotiations, NOTN from June 6th, 2017.
