9th National Assembly: Ahmed Lawan Emerges New Senate President

Senator Ahmed Lawan of the All Progressives Congress, APC, representing Yobe North constituency has emerged the Senate President 0f the 9th National Assembly.

His emergence  Senate President came after polling 79 votes to defeat Senator Ali Ndume of Borno State who polled 28 votes.

Lawan was before his new position, Senate Leader of the 8th National Assembly.

Senator Ovie Omo- Agege of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  Delta State, polled 69 votes to defeat Senator Ike Ekweremadu of Enugu West of the Peoples Democratic Party, who polled 38 votes to become the Deputy Senate President.

Unlike the 8th National Assembly, this current leadership has the full support of the ruling, APC, signalling a more cordial working relationship between the Executive and Legislature.
