CHAMS Appoints Mr. Gavin Young As New CEO; Sunday Olufemi Williams Retires

This is to inform The Nigerian Stock Exchange and the investing public of the retirement of Mr. Sunday Olufemi Williams as the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer after 28 years of meritorious service and the subsequent appointment of Mr. Gavin Young as the new Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Chams Plc effective from November 1, 2019.

Mr. Sunday Olufemi Williams will be proceeding on three (3) Months terminal leave starting from September 2, 2019 and Mr. Gavin Young will resume immediately in acting capacity to ensure proper handover. According to Mr. Sunday Olufemi Williams "I am very confident in the capacity, of Gavin to lead Chams to the next level and assure all our Stakeholders of a smooth transition as Gavin already understands the system".


Profile of Mr. Gavin Young

Mr. Gavin Young is a seasoned Fintech professional with a proven track record in managing Companies with specific focus on all areas of Electronic Banking and Fintech.

His career cuts across 20 years at First National Bank of South Africa, 7 years at Visa as Country Manager, sub-Saharan Africa (South Africa, UK and Nigeria). In 2007 he joined UBA as Senior General Manager Cards and since 2009, he has worked (on a full-time and part-time basis) with the Chams PLC Group of companies as Managing Director of ChamsSwitch and Deputy Managing Director of Chams Mobile, amongst other roles.
