The second edition of #TheAnalystSpeaks a session organised by Proshare to have conversations around critical economic & market policies and answer questions from subscribers and the general public to clarify these issues, will hold on Tuesday, May 18th, 2021.

The session featuring Mr. Adesola Borokini, Senior Economist at Proshare will discuss the topic "What Nigerians Need to know About Inflation & Its Effects On Their Income" as the nation grapples with the rising tide of inflation from the core level (18.17% as at March 2021) to food (22.95%).

Inflation is one of the socio-economic indices across the globe that policy makers, investors and financial market players use to assess developments in an economy, with a view to making key decisions. According to Dr. Doyin Salami, the Chairman of the Presidential Economic Advisory Committee "When Inflation hits over 17% that is the threshold beyond which rising inflation reduces the output in the economy".

Thus, theAnalystSpeaks scheduled to commence from 09:00AM (WAT) with Josephine Eriyo, Co-Anchor, Millennial Talk will discuss the following:

  • Why inflation is rising in Nigeria
  • The effect of inflation on households
  • The implications on the prices of goods and services
  • How the government can address inflation from a fiscal to a monetary policy standpoint.
  • How Nigerians can navigate this period of high inflation.
