President Muhammadu Buhari will today depart Nigeria for China to participate in the 7th summit of the Forum on China-Africa Coopertion (FOCAC), scheduled to hold September 3-4, 2018 in Beijing.
During his visit the President will engage the Nigerian Community in China at an interactive session in the Nigerian embassy.
The President will deliver his remarks at the high-level dialogue between Chinese-African leaders, business representatives and African entrepreneurs, before the commencement of the FOCAC summit.
He will hold bi-lateral meetings with President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang nd use the occasion to assess the level of progress made so far in the Chinese intervention in key infrastructure projects in Nigeria i.e railways and power projects.
They will also discuss infrastructure financing for strategic projects and the upgrading the Nigeria-China relations “from strategic partnership to comprehensive strategic partnership”.
There will be roundtable sessions at the FOCAC summit which the President will attend with Chinese African leaders, under the theme “Towards an even stronger Africa-China Community with a Shared Future”.
The President will be accompanied by his wife the First Mrs Aisha Buhari, who will attend a Spouses programme on China-Africa at the Great Hall of the People, under the theme “Joining Hands for a Future of AIDS”.
Others on the President’s entourage include; Governors Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, Bauchi, Akinwunmi Ambode, Lagos, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Jigawa and Anayo Rochas Okorocha, Imo.
Senators travelling with the President to China are Adbullahi Adamu, Kebbi, George Akume, Benue, Godswill Akpabio, Aka Ibom and Aliyu Wamakko, Sokoto.
Members of the Federal Executive Council who will be in China wth the President are MR Geoffrey Onyema, Foreign Affairs, Rt.Hon Rotimi Amaechi, Transportation, Muhanmad Bello, FCT, Senator Udo Udoma, Budget and National Planning, Mr Babatunde Fashola, Work , Power & Housing, Dr Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, Petroleum (State), Engr Suleiman Adamu, Water Resurces and Capt. Hadi Sirika, Aviation(State).
