The Nigeria economic summit group, NESG  a leading economic policy think-tank in the country, today visited the corporate headquarters of Proshare Nigeria, the countrys leading financial information hub.

The visit was part of the NESG’s ongoing media tour to create awareness ahead of its 25th National Economic Summit, scheduled for Abuja on October 7th and 8th, 2019.

Led by the Chairman of organisations Media and Publicity Team, Mr. Udeme Ufot it was an opportunity to discuss media engagement with the Proshare Team and its Digital TV operations-WebTV.

In his remarks, Mr. Udeme Ufot said the Nigerian Economic Summit was the flagship event of the NESG geared towards facilitating quality deliberations on the progress of the nation's economy.

According to Ufot, the summit will focus on the theme 2050: Shifting Gears, which will explore how Nigeria can upscale its competitiveness as an economy.

Ufot further stated that NESG has been at the forefront of driving a private-sector driven economy, with its policy advocacy that led to the privatization of sectors like telecommunications, power and even aviation.

Since inception, the NESG, according to Ufot, has played a key role in partnering with the government in shaping public policies and serving as a watchdog guiding economic activities.

He also noted that the NESG has policy commissions covering key sectors to drive advocacy and major interventions, that can transform the economy.

The 25th  Nigeria economic summit will look at job creation, industrialization, the challenges of the energy shift and Nigeria's preparedness for the green economy,Ufot said.

Speaking further, Mr. Ufot said that the NESG was focused on being research-driven, even as it restructures its operations and continues to serve as an industrialization catalyst.

The Managing Editor of Proshare, Mr. Teslim Shitta-Bey, welcomed the exciting partnership with NESG, believing that it aligns with the goals of driving a great economy and nation.

.Shitta-Bey noted that despite the complexities of the Nigerian state, the NESG has responsibility for strongly articulating a private sector-driven growth framework that can create job opportunities for millions of Nigerians while keying into a fluid and uncertain global economic space. He said this was particularly critical against the background of the NESG's 2050 vision for Nigeria. He said that if we are going to make something meaningful of the Nigeria 2050 target the race for the new Nigerian corporate and public leadership that will drive the required value-propositions is now™.

On her part, the Chief Business and Marketing Officer of the company, Mrs. Grace Ajuwon assured NESG of the continuous support of Proshare in partnering the organization to drive publicity and awareness for the NESG's silver jubilee summit and collaborate with the NESG in achieving other critical milestone activities on its 2019 calendar.

The 25th NES will discuss Education, Agric, Security, Energy amongst key topical issues.

According to the Head Corporate Communications, NESG, Mr.  Yinka Iyinolakan, leading up to the summit there will be an essay competition for university students, a start-up pitch organized by NESG in partnership with VC4A and Sterling Bank, where the top 3 winners will receive grants with a robust mentorship programme.

.Iyinolakan also noted that the NESG is working with the Nigerian University Commission, NUC, to improve tertiary education, driving advocacy on the CAM Bill 2018 which should be signed into law in 2019 to transform the business environment and the Seed Bill 2018 to boost access to quality seeds by farmers in the country.
